    Summary

Since 1958, Foundation For The Carolinas has served as a catalyst for charitable good, connecting individuals, companies and organizations to needs and philanthropic opportunities across the region and beyond. A community foundation deeply dedicated to the collective strength of communities, FFTC works in close partnership with donors, civic leaders and nonprofits to help achieve a wide variety of charitable goals and to inspire philanthropy that will benefit generations to come.

The Foundation serves a number of individual, family and collective giving client programs whose boards and committees choose to make distributions through competitive grant programs in a variety of interest areas and geographic regions in our service area. These competitive grant programs vary in grant size, application process and funding priorities.

    History of Funding

In 2013, the Foundation awarded $178 million in grants to hundreds of nonprofit organizations across the continental United States. With the exception of the approximately 10% of grants made through the Foundation's competitive grantmaking programs and scholarship funds, the majority represents grant distributions made from charitable funds established and directed by our generous donors.
