    In the last five years the Smith Foundation have funded 25 grants to 11 organizations totaling $113,380. The Smith Foundation has given a total of $27,000 in grants in 2018. Recent awardees include: Opportunity Neighborhood, Weavers Guild of Minnesota, True Friends, and Great River School.

  • Eligibility Details

    Giving primarily is limited to non profit organizations in the seven-county metropolitan Minneapolis, Minnesota area. No grants to individuals.

    Deadline Details

    Applications are to be submitted by April 20, annually. Initial approach should be with a proposal. An application form is required. Applicants should submit the following:

    1. Statement of problem project will address
    2. Qualifications of key personnel
    3. Copy of most recent annual report/audited financial statement/990
    4. Detailed description of project and amount of funding requested
    5. Copy of current year's organizational budget and/or project budget
    6. How project's results will be evaluated or measured
    7. Copy of IRS Determination Letter

    Award Details

    Awards vary based on scope and size of project. Awards are up to $25,000. Most awards are less than $5,000.
