    • Shelter and residential care

    Projects serving the following populations are of special interest:

    • Economically disadvantaged people
    • Homeless people
    • Low-income people
    • Students

    In awarding grants, the foundation gives preference to Christian charitable organizations in MN. Medical foundations and education receive prime consideration.

     

    History of Funding

    In the last five years, The Patch Foundation have funded 204 grants to 58 organizations totaling $3,155,900. The Patch Foundation has given a total of $1.1 million in grants in 2022. Recent awardees include: Alaska Christian College, ARC Greater Twin Cities, Banyan Community, Bethel University, and Catholic Charities.

    The Patch Foundation was established in 1997 in Minnesota. The foundation does not maintain a website. Please contact the foundation to verify eligibility prior to submission of a full application. Funds may be used for the following purposes:

    • Program support

    No support for political groups or causes, the arts, or any group whose goals are contrary to Christian principles.

    Giving primarily is limited to non profit organizations in Minnesota.

    Deadline Details

    Applications are accepted throughout the year. Board meetings occur annually in January. Initial approach should be with a letter of intent.


    Organizations applying should provide information similar to:

    • organization name and address
    • state in which applicant is organized as a nonprofit entity
    • attach any ruling or determination letter from the IRS about exempt or private foundation status
    • copy of proposed budget and purpose of organization
    • if applicable, information on if organization is controlled by, related to, connected with, or sponsored by another organization
    • amount requested and how it will be used
    • signed by authorized authority

    Award Details

    Awards vary based on scope and size of project. Awards are typically less than $1,000.
