The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides economic relief to U.S. airports affected by the prevention of, preparation for, and response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under this new CARES Airport Program, funds are available to

Applicants that accept funding from the CARES Act must continue to employ, through December 31, 2020, at least 90% of the number of individuals employed as of March 27, 2020. The Secretary of Transportation may waive this workforce retention requirement if the Secretary determines that the sponsor is experiencing economic hardship as a direct result of the requirement, or that the requirement reduces aviation safety or security. The workforce retention requirement does not apply to non-hub or non-primary airports.
Eligible applicants are commercial service airports, primary airports, and general aviation airports.
