    Summary

Cigna Foundation World of Difference Grants provide significant support for projects aimed at eliminating health disparities and supporting Health Equity.

The World of Difference focus is on giving every individual the best opportunity to achieve a healthier, more secure life. Through this grant program, we will work together with dedicated non-profit partners, and use the knowledge and expertise of Cigna's professionals, to help people overcome barriers to their health and well-being related to factors such as ethnicity, race, gender, age, education, economic status or place of residence.

Organizations applying for World of Difference grants will be expected to demonstrate that their programs follow this general model:

    • People - Identify a target population not currently able to achieve their best health
    • Impact - Construct a program that will make sure those people can and do pursue healthy opportunities
    • Metrics - Set specific goals and test results in a way that will encourage constant improvement
    • Sustainability - Demonstrate a commitment and ability to deliver opportunities over the long term

  • Eligibility Details

All organizations requesting funding must be current 501(c)(3) public charities.  A single qualified organization can submit applications for several different projects.

Since the foundation looks for projects that have a potential for volunteerism by the Cigna team, preference is given to communities where Cigna has a significant presence.

    Deadline Details

Applications are considered on a rolling basis throughout the year. However, programs applying for a grant after November 1 cannot expect to receive funding until the next calendar year.

    Award Details

Award amounts vary based on proposal.

Pilot grants in the target range of $75,000-$125,000 will cover the initial year of collaboration. After that pilot period, projects that meet grant-specific objectives may be offered additional funding at appropriate levels. A typical first-year, pilot-level award is $100,000.
