    The Troy Savings Bank Charitable Foundation aims to build stronger communities. The Foundation has the following priority areas:

    • Arts & Culture - Artistic and cultural initiatives that enrich our communities, with special consideration given to those that provide access to the arts for financially disadvantaged youth. In addition, the Foundation provides significant support for the world-renowned
    • Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.
    • Community Development - Programs or initiatives that provide vital human services, support for individuals and families experiencing homelessness, and access to safe and affordable housing. In addition, the Foundation welcomes grant inquiries from organizations that work collaboratively to eliminate food insecurity and decrease the incidence of alcohol and substance abuse.
    • Youth Development - Programs that help young people develop needed skills for the workforce of tomorrow. The Foundation also provides support for programs serving at-risk youth during non-school hours. This may include after school and summer camp programs serving school-age children and teens. Of special interest to the Foundation are programs focused on preventing gun violence in our communities.

  • Eligibility Details

    Not-for-profit organizations that meet the following criteria can be considered for funding by the Foundation:

    • Recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS under Section 501(c)(3)
    • Offer programs or services consistent with the Foundation's funding priorities
    • Provide programs or services in Albany or Rensselaer counties of New York State. The Foundation will also occasionally consider regional grant requests for programs or initiatives serving the residents of the Greater Capital Region (defined as Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties). Please email the Foundation's Executive Director to request a telephone discussion about regional requests.

    Deadline Details

    To get started with your grant inquiry, complete the Contact Form (see https://www.tsbfoundation.org/contact) to request a telephone meeting about your possible grant application. If your grant idea request aligns with the Foundation's funding priorities, you will be invited to submit a brief Letter of Inquiry (LOI) via the grant portal. The Grants Committee reviews LOIs quarterly and decides which applicants will be invited to submit a full grant application. 

    Award Details

    Award amounts vary. Most community grantmaking program grant awards are between $10,000 and $50,000. Requests of $2,500 or less can also be considered through a more streamlined process.
