  • Eligibility Details

The Mabee Foundation has a geographical area of giving which includes only the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.  The Foundation makes grants to non-profit, tax exempt, non-tax supported, established institutions which combine sound character and stability with progressiveness and purpose.

    Deadline Details

An application may be submitted at any time throughout the year.  The Trustees of the Foundation meet four times a year (January, April, July, and October) to decide on grants.  An application must be received on or before the first work day of the month preceding a meeting date to be considered at such meeting date.  No advantage will be gained by applying at any particular time

    Award Details

The Foundation will grant up to 20% of the total costs of the project (with a maximum amount of $2,000,000). Mabee Foundation grants are ‘challenge grants,' meaning that the organization must raise the remaining funds required to finish the project within one year of the awarding of the grant or risk cancellation of the grant. The applicant should have raised approximately 40% from other donors (excluding borrowings, reserve funds and government grants) before applying and will have outlined a fundraising strategy, incorporating the use of a Mabee Foundation challenge grant, for securing the balance of funds needed to complete the project.

Note: Construction must commence within two years after satisfying the grant challenge. Payment is not made on the grant until the challenge has been satisfied and construction has started.
