    Summary

    The Foundation for a Healthy St. Petersburg seeks to address health disparities, advance population health, and achieve health equity in Pinellas County. Applications must address one or more of the following social determinants of health impacting population health.


    In 2019, the Foundation will provide funding in the following program categories:

    • Capacity Building Grants: Supports nonprofits of all sizes to invest in short-term activities and projects that strengthen the organization and improve their impact, efficiency and/or effectiveness in the community.
    • Empowerment Grants: Supports organizations, with an operating budget under $2 million, that are ready to take its work to the next level. Examples of projects could include:
      • Launching a new initiative
      • Capacity building, including capital
      • Expanding or sustaining a successful current initiative or program
      • Starting or strengthening community collaborations
      • Collaborative planning with other agencies and community members

    Further, the Foundation will prioritize projects that address one or more of the following focus areas:

    • Health Behaviors - This includes Tobacco use; Diet and exercise; Alcohol and drug use; and Sexual activity;
    • Clinical Care - This includes Access to and utilization of care; and Quality of care
    • Social and Economic Factors - This includes Education; Employment; Income; and Family and social support
    • Physical Environment - This includes Community safety; and Air/water quality

    Additional Information

    The Foundation does not make grants to fund scholarships, capital fund raising campaigns, payments directly to individuals, political campaigns, or lobbying efforts.

  • Eligibility Details

    Funding is available to nonprofit organizations operating in Pinellas County. Public entities, including universities, are not eligible for this grant cycle. The Foundation seeks to address the needs of South Pinellas County, which is defined as south of Ulmerton Road and east of Seminole Boulevard.

    Award Details

    Award amounts vary. Capacity Building grants range from $10,000 to $20,000 each. Empowerment grants range from $40,000 to $100,000 each.
