The Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes Program boosts safety and security at New York's nonprofit organizations at risk of hate crimes or attacks because of their ideology, beliefs, or mission. The SCAHC Program seeks applications for projects to protect against potential hate crime activity by:
Proposals must be for new projects only. Grant funds cannot be used to support projects that have been completed prior to award or outside the period of performance of the grant.
Up to $45,000,000 was available in total funding in 2020.
$25,000,000 was awarded to 205 organizations for 327 projects in 2021.
$51,680,910 was awarded to 497 organizations for 1,081 projects in 2022.
Applicants must submit a facility-specific Vulnerability Self-Assessment which describes relevant threats and security vulnerabilities and describes how the organization will prevent and protect against hate crimes or attacks targeting their facility.
Applicants seeking funding for cybersecurity solutions must provide a Cybersecurity Self-Assessment which describes their organization's current cybersecurity capabilities and vulnerabilities.

Applications were to be submitted by May 17, 2024 at 12 PM EST. Applicants must be prequalified through the New York Statewide Financial System (SFS) at https://grantsmanagement.ny.gov/get-prequalified prior to application submission. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
Up to $60,000,000 is available in 2024 for up to 300 awards. Applicants may submit a maximum total request of $200,000. The project period is 24 months, beginning October 1, 2024.
