Target is committed to partnering with law enforcement because they believe that the private sector has a responsibility to support law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in the interest of public safety. Through the Community Engagement Fund (CEF) grants, they provide public safety agencies and their 501c3 partner organizations with support for crime prevention projects, programs, and events.?
Eligible activities include, but are not limited to:
- Public safety events such as those focused on bicycle and helmet safety
- Specialized investigative police equipment such as digital cameras or forensic items
- Specialized police equipment for divisional units such as bike, K9, mounted patrol (with the exception of animal purchases and/or associated care expenses)
- Certified training for law enforcement officials (non-administrative)
- Youth programs such as PAL or Police Explorers (non-administrative)
- Community events and festivals
- Shopping sprees such as back to school or Heroes & Helpers
- Crime prevention programs such as vehicle theft prevention or neighborhood watch
Eligible agencies interested in being considered for a potential public safety-focused grant should contact their local Target store or distribution center's Assets Protection (AP) team for a meeting to provide information around their program and overall funding request.
